Fasting is Good!

Leviticus 16: 29 and 31 declares fasting and the ‘afflicting the soul.’ Fasting is ‘denying oneself’ of his or her daily need of food and nourishment to seek God in total surrender. In Psalm 35:13 we read, fasting is ‘humbling oneself before God.’ Fasting is ordained by God and can caused the Lord to change things. Fasting must be a turning to God with all of the heart to be effective (Joel 1:14).

Newsletter of the Christ Churches of God in Christ, USA International

Not since since the last 21-day fast have we been so excited about what God is doing. Once again the Lord has led our Bishop on this 21-day Fasting/Prayer. We can all look forward to a Major Breakthrough! Again, we lift our hearts in thanksgiving to Our Lord for the promised results! So be sure to receive your personal copy of the instruction sheet for the 21-day
Fasting /Prayer.

Each day: Evening services, 8:00 pm
Prayer 6:00 am, 12 noon, 6:00 pm, and 12 midnight

This is our hour to trust God for the impossible!

The time has come for us to take to the horn of the altar and hold fast until the answer comes. "These are not normal times!" In fact, we must reach and teach and show by example the Word of God.

Why should you and others go on this fasting/prayer?

1. Jesus said in Matthew 9:15 "the days will come, when the Bridegroom shall be taken from them, and they shall "fast".

2. Fasting removes mountains "Matthew 17:21 - "howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.

3. Jesus taught fasting and prayer by the pattern of His life, Matthew 4:1-2.

Don't miss your chance!

Fasting is God-Given

Fasting is God-Given. Fasting is denying the flesh before the

Lord - it's a sacrificial life before the Lord. In Isaiah Chapter 58, we learn what a "true fast" is. It's a call from the almighty to total humility and self-denial before Him. In 11 Chronicles 12:14, we are ward by God to humble ourselves. Again, Isaiah chapter 58 declares this fast as chosen by the Almighty as a time for us to humble ourselves; this a fast to loosens the chains of injustice, unties the unto the yoke, free the oppressed, feeds the hungry, provides for the poor, and clothes the naked. This fasting is for many days. A fast that is a protracted fast until we break forth with new life. "Then your light shall break forth like the morning, your healing shall spring forth speedily, and your righteousness shall go before you; the glory of the Lord shall be your rear guard. Then you shall call, and the Lord will answer; you shall cry, and He will say, 'Here I am' (Isaiah 58:8-9).

Fasting give us a fertile time to repent and express godly

sorry for sins we have committed. Fasting is a time of turning from sin, worldliness, spiritual apathy and indifference to the faith of the Lord Jesus Christ. In a total fast, our will can become His will in us. The total and deeper work of God in the heart takes place in a total 10 or 21 days fast-prayer. There are revelations and deeper insight into the purpose and plan God  has for us. Fasting and praying places us into a level of  faith and blessing that can only be obtained in such a time as this. The Lord teaches us that our period of personal fasting should be done in secret. Jesus taught us to do it in the closet and we would rewarded openly.

For those with health problems that may prevent them from a total fast, special instructions should be given them for a certain number of days or  a partial fast during the days of the fasting-prayers. It is always wise to consult their health provider and to request information is a total fast could damage their bodies. Remember Daniel, the Prophet fast many days (21 days) and only ate pleasant bread (Daniel 10:3).  Daniel denied himself certain foods, ate only pleasant bread and drink water. This indicated his dedication to the things of God and the desire of God in and over his life. God was his supreme desire and need. "The blessing of the Lord make rich and add no sorry with it."

Fasting Prayer, Self Denial

Fasting is self-denial and total surrender to the Lord; it is a denial of our physical

appetite for food. Jesus taught and practice self-denial and express the power and success of fasting - prayer in a victorious walk of faith upon the earth (Mark. 8:34). Fasting is a powerful outcome of total surrender to God; it is clear expression of our faith and provides us a powerful instrument to deeper life.

Notice the scriptures as it refers to Moses fasting and prayer before receiving the Ten Commandments. The nation of Israel often fasted and prayed for the Almighty to break the oppression of their enemies and to know freedom in their walk of faith with the Divine. The Prophet Daniel fast and prayed for great revelation about the future and divine discernment. Jesus fast and prayed. It was through fasting-prayer that Christ resisted and overcame the devil in the wilderness. The early Apostles gave themselves to fasting and prayer. Paul the Apostle fast often, He was greatly used in the early church days in planting churches throughout Asia. Again, his life was a life of fasting and praying always in every place.
